IN THE GARDEN

I know very little about being a good gardener, but slowly I am learning. When there's something I don't know I pick up the phone and I call my Dad. Its so much easier to learn by genuine conversation, and understanding of your situation. Books and websites don't know our soil or climate; real people do.These are our roses a couple of weeks ago. This morning I have just given them a light prune, fed them and put mulch on their garden bed. I searched for signs of growth, so I could chose the right place to snip, and there I understood life and my own requirements for growth. I cut off dead flowers and weak flowers; as the colour on my roses were taking life from new growth, so they had to go.Good choices require sacrifice as we face an unknown fear. But a budding new rose is the most perfect flower on the whole tree.
