A CLOUD COVERED SUNRISE

On a normal week, the thought of an alarm going off at 4:30am, is not an idea we jump at. However this isn't the first time while on holidays, we've been keen to cut our sleeping hours a little short, and wake before the sun.We stumbled about in the dark of the morning, grabbing towels, the camera, and anything our early morning brains thought to pick up as we rushed out the door, heading for the most eastern point of Australia before the sun rose. We were three minutes late as we reached the Byron Bay lighthouse, but a the heavy morning cloud cover beat us to it, keeping the sparkling of the first light on the ocean from our eyes. Back down the mountain, we wandered along the beach, waiting for breakfast options to open. Dave skipped stones as we watched the early morning kayakers and surfers bounce along the sea. As our stomachs grumbled, I remembered reading this blog post, which inspired us to sample the breakfast goods at Top Shop (please excuse the amount of bbq sauce I like with my mushrooms). Bellies full, we returned to the lighthouse, before hitting the road to explore Bangalow. We returned to Our Corner Store, a sweet little shop I bought a succulent from at the start of the year. This time, we walked away with a new cactus to add to our plant family. However, finding Heath's Old Wares  was the biggest treat. The goods we could have brought home are unrivalled by any old wares shop we're ever been to!This afternoon, we returned to our books in the sunshine, cooling off in the water, before the evening storm rolled in. Summer holidays are grand.
